Future-oriented business partnership

On the occasion of the centennial of Tongji University Shanghai, TRUMPF presented itself as a business partner of the university. This was announced at the Chinese-German Academic Association (CGAA).

The picture shows (from left to right): Dr: Albrecht von der Heyen, consul general of the Federal Republic of Germany; Dr. Eva Schwinghammer, managing director of TRUMPF Siber Hegner Ltd.; Dr. Klaus von Trotha, Minister of Science and Research of Baden-Württemberg ret.; Prof. Dr. Ulrich Middlemann, Vice-Chairman of ThyssenKrupp AG and Prof. Heinz Dollberg, Executive Vice-President, Allianz AG in Asia.

On May 18th 2007, the CGAA hosted an international symposium under the motto “platform for cooperation in technology, business and science”. Dr. Eva Schwinghammer, managing director of TRUMPF Siber Hegner (TSH), stressed in her speech the importance of cooperation between universities and companies in China. Especially against the background of a shortage of skilled staff, it would be very important to tie the students to the companies from early on.

TRUMPF had already presented itself to the students at the first graduate fair at the German Center on March 21st 2007. Soon the first Chinese student from Tongji University could start his internship at the production facility in Ditzingen. At the moment, applications from mechatronics students are being reviewed.

All participants agreed in one point: It is not enough to inspire Chinese students to go to Germany for studies or an internship. German students should also be encouraged more to study in China or gain practical experience there.
